After-Workout Hair Help

There’s no denying the many benefits of exercise, but finding time for a workout can be a challenge—especially when you’re left with sweaty, sticky hair afterwards. So, if you want to squeeze in a quick workout during your busy day, but post-workout shampooing isn’t possible, try these styling tips. (No one will know you just left the gym!)

1. Apply dry shampoo

Use a dry shampoo like Biolage Clean and Recharged Dry Shampoo or Sexy Hair Big Sexy Hair Volumizing Dry Shampoo before you work out. By prepping your hair with dry shampoo before you get on the treadmill, the product can absorb sweat during your workout. Afterward, you can spritz in some more dry shampoo, but be sure your hair is dry. When applied to wet hair, dry shampoo leaves behind a cakey residue that’s anything but pretty.

2. Blow it out

By using a blow dryer and round brush you can dry up light post-workout dampness. Lightly spray your hair with DESIGNLINE Texture Tousle or DESIGNLINE Hot Stop Style Primer to help your hair smell fresh and give it body.

3. Work in product

Massage in a drop of styling cream—try Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Shaping Cream or DESIGNLINE Texture Cream Casual Styler—throughout hair, staying away from the scalp area. Tousle and scrunch your hair with your fingers while blow-drying for a refreshing boost of volume.

4. When in doubt: ponytail

If you can’t recover your pre-workout hairstyle, a simple up-do is a pretty way to disguise limp post-workout hair. Simply pull your hair into a pony tail, bun or a braid, then get back to your day.

Find out which products will work best for your hair length and texture by asking your stylist for advice. They’ll know how to help you get your style back after a good workout.
